The game was proceeding as usual until just over six minutes into the second quarter when disaster struck. McCoy just caught a short pass from quarterback Joe Milton when he was tackled by South Carolina’s Marcellas Dial.

The tackle resulted in McCoy’s right leg bending awkwardly, twisting at a horrifying 90-degree angle. The sight of the injury sent shockwaves through the stadium, leaving everyone in a state of stunned silence.

McCoy, who entered the game as the Volunteers’ second-leading receiver with 196 yards on 15 receptions, had recorded two receptions for 21 yards before the unfortunate incident.
The 23-year-old player is currently in his second season with Tennessee after transferring from USC. However, his chances of playing again this season now seem slim due to the severity of his injury.
