An increasing number of top Biden officials now believe that coronavirus is a result of a lab leak in Wuhan, China; this is a theory that the Biden administration and other Democrats once declared as fictional.
Biden officials are now engaged in the probe of the lab leak theory
According to a report by CNN, the Biden administration took one step closer to admitting that indeed COVID-19 originated in a lab; this comes after top Biden officials engage in the investigation of the virus and are not backing up the theory.
Biden officials are still divided as to whether the virus was a natural occurrence, passed from animals to humans. However, the acknowledgment that it could’ve originated from a lab marks as a shift from the disbelief that was thrown against former President Trump.
Likewise, a group of scientists from Europe also first suggested the lab leak theory last year, during the height of the pandemic. According to statistics gathered by John Hopkins University, coronavirus infected almost 190 million people all around the world and resulted in over 3.5 million deaths.

This week, the director-general of the World Health Organization made a 180 degree turn when he recognized that the virus could have originated from a lab. On Thursday, Tedros told reporters that there is a “premature push” to rule out the lab leak theory.
This contradicted the statements he made in February after WHO did a mission in China; this mission concluded that the possibility that the virus escaped from the virology lab in Wuhan is “extremely unlikely. Now, Tedros is saying that being an immunologist (and a lab technician himself who worked in a lab) he can attest that indeed laboratory accidents happen.
Meanwhile, China has been called to give “direct information” about the situation at the Wuhan laboratory before the pandemic. It can be noted that last May, Biden also ordered intelligence officials to do a 90-day probe about the origins of coronavirus.
They were also ordered to look at whether the virus originated naturally from human contact with animals or from an accident at a laboratory in China.

Biden administration officials have been putting diplomatic pressure on China to allow investigators open access to the data that Chinese scientists collected in the early days of the pandemic; this is according to a White House briefing to reporters, shortly after Biden announced the new probe in May.

Back in April 2020, the U.S. State Department showed that U.S. diplomats are worried about a lab leak at the premier virus research lab in Wuhan, China. The cables showed how U.S. scientists were sent to the Chinese lab on multiple occasions. The cable also showed how the scientists are worried that leaks from the laboratory could cause a SARS-like pandemic.
On the other hand, China has been consistently rejecting the lab leak theory. They also maintained that since coronavirus was first detected in 2019 in Wuhan, it was passed from bats to humans through another species.
Meanwhile, the Biden administration is putting diplomatic pressure against China; this is to allow investigators to gain access to the data that Chinese scientists gathered during the early days of the pandemic.
