It might already be too late to completely eradicate monkeypox in the United States.
When the CDC announced on May 18 that a Massachusetts man had monkeypox, the Biden government was unprepared.
It was a part of the first significant epidemic of the virus outside of endemic regions of Africa, a rare occurrence that swiftly turned into a global health emergency.
There is No Escape
Public health experts in the United States kept tabs on the early instances that followed across the nation. The disease spread among men who have sex with men, especially those who’ve had several companions in a short amount of time.
There are a number of failures in the federal response, including clumsy early testing procedures, slow vaccine allocation, a lack of federal funding to support local/state governments, and spotty interaction with societies most impacted by the virus.

Public health and healthcare experts now worry the government won’t be able to eradicate the illness in that neighborhood. They warn there isn’t much time left to prevent the virus from infecting a larger portion of the American population.
Sara Sawyer, a researcher at the University of Colorado in Boulder who researches the transmission of animal viruses to people, stated the following:
“We now have so many diseases in so many places around the Earth that it will be extremely difficult to track this down with vaccine campaigns.”
“Not only do we not have enough immunizations, but even if some people avoid testing or show no symptoms, they will spread the disease,” the expert said.
The Biden government is nonetheless confident it can prevent this from occurring in the United States.
Demetre Daskalakis, the deputy director of the White House’s response operation to the monkeypox outbreak, told Politico, “we are absolutely in the boat of attempting to control this outbreak.”
The Government Was Not Prepared
According to him, the outbreak has been “full of surprises,” forcing federal health officials to make constant adjustments.”

The government has undertaken a number of actions to try to control the virus and distribute vaccines to the 1.5 million individuals it believes are most at risk as illnesses have increased.
According to the CDC’s most recent case statistics, as of the end of summer, 99 percent of cases in the U.S. involved men. 94 percent involved men who had sex with other men.
Although the epidemic comes after the shock of the COVID-19 pandemic, the administration benefits from the disease’s lower contagiousness.
