Back in 2018, the Justice Department began investigating Hunter Biden due to multiple financial issues and an alleged violation of anti-money laundering law. But the investigation was reportedly paused when his father, Joe Biden, ran for the presidency, citing the Department of Justice’s policy against “overt” action that could impact the election.
Despite this policy’s existence, it did not stop the FBI from pursuing an investigation against President Trump about the 2016 campaign issues despite several red flags suggesting that these allegations were baseless.
Then on Wednesday, the Associated Press reported that the investigation on Hunter Biden’s Ukraine and Chinese dealings have been ongoing even before the election. However, numerous media outlets refused to conduct a report about it, claiming, without evidence, and with Biden’s alibi, that the issue was a mere part of a Russian disinformation campaign.

Meanwhile, Hunter Biden claimed that he only learned about the criminal investigation on Tuesday after releasing a statement that urged media outlets to acknowledge the issue and his shady dealings.
Hunter said, “I take this matter very seriously, but I am confident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately, including with the benefit of professional tax advisors,” implying that the matter was merely about his taxes. Yet, the reason why he was placed under federal criminal investigation is deeper than that.
A CNN report said that authorities are investigating Hunter Biden because of multiple financial issues. Including among them is whether he violated anti-money laundering laws when he conducted his business dealings in foreign countries, particularly in China.
Investigators are also looking at the gifts that Hunter Biden received from China, which he may not have listed.
Federal prosecutors in Delaware are also working with the IRS Criminal Investigation Agency, and the FBI and are taking overt steps such as issuing a subpoena and seeking interviews.
For weeks leading up to the election, the media was aware that a federal money laundering investigation into Hunter Biden and associates was OPEN & ONGOING.

The story about Hunter Biden and his laptop first broke in October in a story reported by the New York Post. Said laptops were handed over to the FBI, and damning emails, images, and other information were found. However, several news outlets and social media platforms chose to stay quiet or suppress the story. Facebook and Twitter either reduced the distribution of the links. The social media platforms even ban people from sharing them.
In addition to the laptop scandal, CNN also added that Hunter briefly acted as a lawyer for Patrick Ho, who was convicted in 2018 of paying millions in bribes to officials in Uganda and Chad to benefit CEFC, an organization ran by him. Ho was later sentenced to a three-year federal prison term.

During Joe Biden’s tenure as Vice President to Barack Obama, Hunter Biden was also involved in Chinese business ventures, which drew concerns from the White House and Joe Biden’s staff.
After government agencies get a hand on the said laptop, the story that was published by the New York Post was proven accurate. Then, the DOJ once again had the motivation to look into Hunter Biden’s business dealings and finances.
The Associated Press reported, “It isn’t clear which entities or business dealings might be tied up in the probe, though the person with knowledge of the matter said at least some of focus was on his past work in China.”
Then on Tuesday, federal investigators started serving a round of subpoenas, including one for Hunter Biden. The news outlet also emphasized that the news of the investigation on Hunter Biden comes at a politically delicate time for President-elect Joe Biden, who they said is “weighing his choice to lead an agency that is actively investigating his son.”
