Candace Owens, conservative author, and commentator challenged the left-leaning fact-checking site PolitiFact, a Facebook partner with an alleged “false” rating.
PolitiFact admitted to their fault and offered an added “correction.” The left-leaning fact-checking site also removed their “false” rating and retracted that article featuring why Owens’ video was allegedly false.

“I wanted to show that these fact-checkers just lie, and they usually go unchecked because most people don’t have the money, don’t have the time, and don’t have the platform to go after them — and I have all three,” Owens said.
Owens’ video that was being referred to by PolitiFact was the one posted last November 12. In the said video, Owens can be seen offering a commentary on the 2020 presidential election. The video was captioned, “Joe Biden is literally and legally not the President-elect. So why is the media pretending he is?”
Said video was hit with a “false” rating, and as claimed by Owens, every person who shared the video was notified by Facebook, alerting them that they just shared “false” content.
Last Saturday, Owens Tweeted, stating that Facebook censored the video she posted, “truthfully” pronounces that Joe Biden is not the President-elect. Due to said censorship, Owens got lawyers involved.
Weeks ago, @Facebook censored a post of mine which truthfully stated that @JoeBiden is NOT the President-elect.
So I got lawyers involved.

The Conservative author, who is currently suing fact-checkers from Lead Stories, and USAToday told The Daily Wire that if she wanted to get results from this latest “false” fact check, she had to reach out with legal representation.
Owens also said that based on her experience when she attempted to appeal fact-checks within the system, she has been “stonewalled.”
She further added, “these people are sitting back thinking they’re the gods of tech; opinion-checkers, they’re censorship lords.”
In a follow-up post on Twitter, Owens said that at eight months pregnant, she could not fight on the ground like how she used to. However, she said, she is taking every measure to fight the communists in the courtroom.
“It is my goal to expose these lying ‘fact-checkers’ one by one. [Joe Biden] is NOT the President-elect.” Owens said.
Meanwhile, PolitiFact responded to these allegations, and the note reads as follows:
Correction: PolitiFact originally labeled this video false in our capacity as a third-party fact-checker for Facebook. On November 20, an appeal to that decision was made on behalf of Ms. Owens. PolitiFact approved the appeal on November 20, determined that a correction was appropriate, and removed the false rating.
Despite airing their side, the language on PolitiFact’s note seems to downplay what happened.
The BLEXIT founder said she reached out to PolitiFact on November 20. She said she stepped forward with legal representation and immediately heard back PolitiFact acknowledging their error,
According to Owens, the communication from the lawyer at PolitiFact read as follows:
Upon first glance, this video from Ms. Owens was labeled false from PolitiFact in error. We already have removed the label from the video, and you should now be able to see it unobstructed.
As we’re about 25 minutes into this, we still don’t know how or why the post was labeled ‘false.’ We are investigating and hope to share more information with you formally on Monday.
Owens added that she was not briefed on the alleged “error.” She also felt that the retraction made by PolitiFact was not enough and wanted the site to admit publicly that PolitiFact “falsely fact-checked her.”

With pressure coming from Owens’ legal representation, the site issued the “correction” that she shared with the public on Saturday. Owens refers to this admission as another “major win.” According to her, PolitiFact essentially admitted that “Joe Biden is not the President-elect.”
She continued and said, “Conclusion? [PolitiFact] uncensored the post & admitted that they LIED by rating my post false. The fact-checkers are lying for Democrats.”
Owens aims to end the censorship of opinions or information against the one accepted narrative from the Left. She stated that if she wins these legal actions, her move can set a precedent for a massive class-action suit against Facebook from other people who experienced the same censorship.
