As America continues to fight COVID-19, some Democrats are trying to score political victories during this time. In the spirit of never letting a good crisis go to waste, the left has shown that, in their eyes, partisanship is more important than saving lives, jobs, and our nation.
Earlier this month, California Governor Gavin Newsom declared that coronavirus marks an opportunity for more “progressive” policies; of course, Newsom also stated that such policies would take our nation in a direction away from capitalism, i.e. socialism or communism.
Then, just yesterday, 2020 Democrat Joe Biden called for “structural change” in multiple sectors of American life, per Breitbart News.
A Closer Look at the “Structural Change” Biden Wants to See
During a virtual sit-down interview with CNN’s Chris Cuomo, Biden explained his belief that the economy, voting mandates, environment, and preventative measures against diseases all need fixing.
Joe Biden on coronavirus:
“We have an opportunity to do so many things now to change the structural things that are wrong… the bandaid has been ripped off here.”

The former vice president then declared that COVID-19 has “ripped off” the proverbial bandaid; Biden also stated that coronavirus and the environment are linked to one another before criticizing the U.S. voting system as without transparency.
Of course, additional proposals of the “structural change” Biden would like to see in America include government handouts and more. While making these points, the former vice president did not detail payment plans for all that he’s calling for.
A Need for Structural Change?
Right now, the most pressing change that Americans need is hope they can return to work soon. Thanks to lockdowns and shelter-in-place orders across the nation, at least ten million Americans are jobless. Meanwhile, domestic violence reports, business break-ins, and property crimes are each on the rise.
Conservatives have rightfully noted that our country cannot stay shut down forever; folks talking about shutdowns for weeks and months longer fail to realize that there won’t be a country to come back to if the economy stays closed for much longer.
Instead of peddling left-wing talking points on CNN, Biden’s attention should be directed towards working families. Then again, though, Democrats are never ones to let a good crisis go to waste.
