Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s aunt said that Trump should not be blamed for “Abuela’s” misery, but instead Puerto Rican politicians should.
Ocasio-Cortez’s aunt slammed the New York congresswoman for claiming that Trump and his administration were to blame for her “Abuela”s misery.
According to the aunt, the Puerto Rican politicians are the ones to blame for suffering Puerto Ricans are experiencing since Hurricane Maria struck the country in 2017.
BREAKING: AOC's aunt comes out in support of Trump on Puerto Rico aid

This assessment by Ocasio-Cortez’s aunt came after the New York Democrat posted pictures of her grandmother earlier this month.
In a Tweet posted by Ocasio-Cortez, she showed pictures of her grandmother’s house in Puerto Rico, claiming that the house remained in despair for almost for years after Hurricane Maria.
The Democrat congresswoman then blamed Trump for allegedly blocking the relief for PR.
AOC’s aunt debunked congresswoman’s story
However, when a Daily Mail reporter visited the grandmother’s home this week, a woman in the residence who claimed to be Ocasio-Cortez’s aunt stated that the New York congresswoman’s story is inaccurate.
The aunt also noted that it is true that Category 5 Hurricane Maria caused extensive damage to the island. However, she insisted that Trump wasn’t to blame for the struggles that the residents experienced.

The aunt further added that it is a problem in Puerto Rico; however, this is due to the Puerto Rican government and the ways in which they distributed relief.
She then emphasized that it is NOT a problem with Washington, adding that they had the assistance; however, the assistance did not make it to the people.
Fundraising for AOC’s grandmother
After Ocasio-Cortez posted the residence of her grandmother on Twitter, conservative commentator Matt Walsh fired back at the New York representative. Walsh said it is a shame that AOC lives in extravagance, allowing her grandmother to suffer in poor conditions.
Then, Walsh raised over $100,000 for Ocasio-Cortez’s grandmother. However, the campaign ended as the NY representative’s family refused to accept the assistance.
In the tweet that AOC posted on Twitter, she claimed that the Trump administration is to blame for her grandmother’s misery.
She said that the former administration had a “major role” in blocking the relief funds from arriving at Puerto Rican homes. Although, she also added that the problem is additionally caused by the island’s fiscal control board together with local leaders.
The congresswoman then made a bold call as she asked for audits on how the relief funds were distributed. She also assured her followers on Twitter that her Abuela is “doing okay,” despite posting the squalid conditions of her home.
Ocasio-Cortez wrote that her grandmother has a place to go to and be taken care of; then, she posed a question asking what about those who don’t.
