Far-left Democrat Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez claimed the Democrats lost the gubernatorial election in Virginia because of the “100% supercharged moderated campaign strategy” that did not tap into the progressive base.
Ocasio-Cortez said the results of Virginia election show the “limits” of full moderate campaign
In an Instagram story posted by Ocasio-Cortez on Wednesday, the representative acknowledged the Democrat Party’s loss in the gubernatorial election was a “huge bummer.”
She then noted that the results reflect the “limits” of attempting to run a full Democrat campaign strategy that does not speak to progressive voters.

It can be noted in the months before Election Day in the commonwealth, McAuliffe was in a single-digit lead against Youngkin.
Despite campaigning with high profile Democrats (such as former President Obama, President Biden, and Vice President Harris, among other top Democrats), McAuliffe lost in the gubernatorial race.
On the other hand, Youngkin’s win is now being looked at as a referendum on Democrats and Biden’s ideologies which were implemented under his administration. Mitch McConnell stated in an interview with Fox News Americans are trying to tell Democrats to stop doubling down on spending and taxation.
The Senate Republican leader also claimed Americans had enough of all the “excess” that the liberal party is trying to push. Finally, McConnell warned the win of Youngkin is a clear message telling the Democrats to just stop.
Youngkin’s win also came after the local and national outrage about the sexual assault case from a public school in Loudoun County. This made his campaign refocus on education in the last few weeks before the election.
Youngkin talked about “kitchen table issues,” while McAuliffe was busy attempting to connect Youngkin with former President Trump
On Wednesday, during an interview with Tucker Carlson, Youngkin stated when parents heard McAuliffe say mothers and fathers do not have a role in the education of their kids, it stopped becoming a campaign and shifted to become a movement by parents.
Youngkin added although “kitchen table issues” are very important to the people of Virginia, safe communities, great jobs, and low taxes are matters that continue to be a central topic. Then, education became a top issue in the election.
While Youngkin made the campaign about these central issues, McAuliffe attempted his best to accuse Youngkin of being aligned with Trump. Although the former president might have been disliked by some voters, polls show that Trump still has higher approval ratings, compared to Biden.

On the other hand, social media users criticized far-left Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for analyzing the race. Many mocked her analysis as out of touch, while attempting to explain the defeat of McAuliffe is due to his campaign not being based on “moderate” policies.
